All the remaining teams are instructed to fly from Fortelaze, Brazil to La Paz, Bolivia. What happened during the pit stop was even better. Christy accused Starr of pushing her “sports bra” off the ledge. Now come on? Seriously, how is this in any way going to get Nick and Starr ahead of Kelly and Christy? So the rivalry between these two teams has certainly heated up. After getting their first clue, the teams fly 1,200 miles and find themselves in La Paz, Bolivia, which is 12,000 feet above sea level. Mark & Bill start to find it hard to breathe the air.
The teams camp besides a local statue while waiting for a newspaper shop to open. They flip through the pages of the newspaper to find a clue that instructs them to travel to the Narvaez Hat Shop in Plaza Mario and then purchase a traditional cholita hat to obtain their next clue. This clue turns out to be a detour.
This detour was a choice between Musical March or Bumpy Ride. In Musical March, teams had to make their way on foot to two plazas several blocks apart and collect musicians to form a band, then deliver those musicians to a band-leader. In Bumpy Ride, teams were required to travel on foot to a market and then select a pair of a locally crafted bicycles and ride them throughout the area’s bumpy streets with the assistance of a map.
Andrew & Dan and Marissa & Brooke successfully completed the Musical March detour.
Mark & Bill, Ken & Tina, Terence & Sarah, Kelly & Christy, Aja & Ty and Toni & Dallas completed their Bumpy Ride successfully.
After the detour, the first U-Turn of the race was upcoming.
At the detour, Nick & Starr while passing Aja & Ty, said that they would not yield them but asked them to yield Marissa & Brooke. They did not though. No one utilized the U-Turn.
NOTE: The detour clearly said to walk to your choice of task by foot. Mark & Bill fail to read this and take a taxi to their detour choice.
After completing the detour, the teams travel by taxi eight miles to Los Titanes del Ring. Over there the teams encountered a Roadblock. In this Roadblock, one member of each team was to be up against a female wrestler. Each member had to complete six different tasks after learning them.
Ken, Mark, Marissa, Toni, Sarah, Dan, Nick, Aja and Kelly successfully completed this task for their respective teams.
After finishing this task, teams were given a clue instructing them to make their way to the Pit Stop! Their Pit Stop was Mirador, El Monticulo.
All teams made their way to the Pit Stop. Ken & Tina left first towards the Pit Stop.
Upon reaching the Pit Stop, Mark & Bill received a 30 minute penalty for not reading their clue correctly and traveling by taxi and not on foot to their Detour.
So eventually, in the end because of Mark & Bill’s penalty, Marissa & Brooke who thought they were definitely eliminated reached the Pit Stop just before the penalty ended and so Mark & Bill were eliminated.
The teams finished in the following order;
#1. Ken and Tina (Prize: Seven-Night trip for two to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Courtesy Travelocity)
#2. Toni and Dallas
#3. Terence and Sarah
#4. Marisa and Brooke
#5. Aja and Ty
#6. Nick and Starr
#7. Andrew and Dan
#8. Kelly and Christy
#9. Mark and Bill (Eighth to Arrive, 30-Minute Penalty; ELIMINATED)
