“Don’t Let a Cheese Hit Me” – Episode 1 & Episode 2 – “Your Target Is Your Partner’s Face”

Sorry I am so late with all the updates but after this week I will not be anymore.

So Season 14 started with eleven new teams racing for one-million dollars.

Leg 1:  They start out in California but immediately fly out to Milan or Zurich and then on to Locarno, Switzerland.
Their first roadblock task requires “nerves of steel” – a 70 story bungee jump. This is the second highest bungee jump in the world. They then have to go to Interlaken where they join the local workforce. They have to transport 200 pounds of cheese from an againg shed to the bottom of a hill. Most teams have difficulty here. After this is the pit stop. They travel to the town of Stechelberg and have to listen to a group of yodelers to lead them to the Pit Stop. Christie & Jodie and Preston & Jenifer have a close foot race to the Pit Stop.

Preston and Jenifer barely lost out on the foot race and were eliminated.

The teams finished in the following order:

#4. Mel and Mike
#5. Amanda and Kris
#6. Brad and Victoria

NOTE: Beginning with this season, a new opening theme is used. This theme features the same basic tune, but has more of a “rock” sound to it. This is the first such change to the audio in the opening sequence since the elimination of host Phil Keoghan’s opening narration after the first season. Additionally, new graphics are used in both the show opening and throughout the broadcast, along with a new font being used for the chyrons displaying information such as the contestant names and relationship status. Finally, Google Maps is now used for the map screens indicating departure points, routes and destinations.

Leg 2:  This time also, the first clue instructed them to fly out of Switzerland and to Munich, Germany. Teams raced to get tickets for the earliest flight and only two teams missed out on it. Mark & Micheal and Christie & Jodie missed out on it. They had to then drive to the top of the Alps where they hit a Roadblock. This Roadblock saw one member of each team choosing an instructor and paragliding off the side of the mountain. If the winds were tough or blowing in the wrong direction, then they could walk a sixty-minute walk all the way down. Tammy, Mel, Kris, Margie, Victoria, Cara, Jen, Mark, Christie, and Linda all took the task for their teams. Because the winds were way too tough, Tammy, Kris, Margie, Victoria, Cara, Jen, Mark, Christie, and Linda all opted to run. But Linda got lost on the trail down the mountain and had to get a ride from a local to get back to Steve. Only Mel did the paragliding, since he waited things out until the wind changed to a safe direction. Mel couldn’t walk down as he had hurt his groin. This was a good decision though by Mel, as team Mel & Mike surged into second place after this roadblock.

The teams then drove 25 miles to Austria where it was time for a detour. It saw the teams choosing between Bouncing Dolly or Austrian Folly. Bouncing Dolly saw the teams riding a Segway along an obstacle course, from the starting line to the finish line. Austrian Folly saw the teams throwing cakes at each others’ faces until they found one with a cherry filling. Mel and Mike, Jaime and Cara, Kisha and Jen, and Mark and Michael all chose and completed Bouncing Dolly, while Tammy and Victor, Amanda and Kris, Margie and Luke, Brad and Victoria, Christie and Jodi, and Steve and Linda all chose and completed Austrian Folly.
The next task involved going on foot to find some woodcutters, who’d cut them a slice of wood. On that slice of wood, they’d find a clue telling them to head to the Pit Stop, which would take them from Germany to Salzburg, Austria. The Pit Stop is Schloss Hellbrunn (Hellbrunn Castle) in Salzburg, Austria. And at the Pit Stop, the first team to arrive was Tammy and Victor. Navigation woes plagued almost all of the other teams on their way to the Pit Stop, though. It was one of the things, coupled with Linda getting lost in the Alps, that resulted in Steve and Linda finishing last and becoming the second team eliminated from the race, at which time a tearful farewell ensued.

#5. Brad and Victoria
#6. Jaime and Cara
#7. Kisha and Jen

#10. Steve and Linda (ELIMINATED)

An on-screen graphic indicated that when Jaime and Cara arrived, 14 hours had passed since the start of the leg.

So the first few epsiodes were real exciting and pretty close. Christie & Jodi barely survived elimination again.
