The final three teams, Nick & Starr Spangler, Andrew Lappitt & Dan Honig amd Ken & Tina Greene set off from their Pit Stop at VDNKh Park, Moscow, Russia and receive a clue instructing them to fly to their final destination city: Portland, Oregon. All the 3 final teams take the same flight, connecting via Frankfurt to Portland. Once their, the teams travel to a local adventure park.
Note: Andrew & Dan though face taxi problems which eventually put them out of the race.
At the adventure park, teams find a detour.
In this detour, Teams racing in this leg faced Detour choices involving tasks designed to improve the balance and reduce the fear of people working in logging– Portland, Oregon’s most dangerous business. The choices were High and Dry & Low and Wet. In High and Dry, racers had to climb thirty feet up a tree and then traverse a forty foot log. They then had to leap in order to retrieve one half of the next clue. In Low and Wet, they had to walk 850 feet across a floating log bridge to a clue waiting for them on shore. All 3 teams successfully completed High and Dry.
After this, the teams travel by taxi to The Bridge Of Gods where they take a 2,000 foot zip-line ride to an island. Once their they are faced with a complicated task which is a game board testing the memory of the events throughout the race. The race contained ten game pieces, each representing one leg of the race and behind each symbol was either Route Info, Roadblock, Detour or Pit Stop. Teams had to search through 150 clue boxes for pictures for the corresponding leg. Each time they placed a correct picture, a green light would come up and then they could move on to the next one. Upon completing this task, teams found a clue directing them to travel to Portland Building and search for a green dinosaur.
After that the next clue, sent them to search for a Russian food cart and then finally a donut shop. Once they found the donut ship, they got their final clue which directed them to go the pit stop. All the way till now, Ken & Tina and Nick & Starr have been neck to neck with Andrew & Dan a little too far behind.
The Pit Stop was at a local mansion. Both Nick & Starr and Ken & Tina make their way to the Pit Stop by taxi and the taxi race is on.
The team which got their first? Nick & Starr! YAY! They beat Ken & Tina! Andrew & Dan at least get to the Pit Stop. So credit to them.
Some quotes:
Phil: 23 days, 5 continents and almost 40,000 miles– Nick and Starr, you are the official winners of The Amazing Race. Congratulations. You have won the one million dollars
Nick: I’m proud of my sister. As a person, as a competitor and as a racer. She’s been unbelievable on this race. And more than the million dollars, more than being the winners of The Amazing Race, I love the experience that I’ve gone through with my sister and I’ve loved seeing her succeed so greatly
Phil: You didn’t win The Amazing Race, but I’m hoping you did reconnect.
Ken: You know, we’ve been through a lot of– of ups and downs through the course of this race and, uh, she’s the best
Dan: It’s appropriate that we ended the race with how we started– an incredible amount of mistakes.
Some facts:
Nick and Starr have the highest sibling finish, with the exception of the Linz family in The Family Edition. Moreover, Starr is the youngest racer in regular seasons to win.
Nick and Starr are the third team to win both the first and final leg of the season. The first team was Rob and Brennan from the race’s first season and the second was Tyler and James of the tenth season.
With their victory in this leg, Nick and Starr beat the record for the most legs won in a single race, with a total of seven. This surpasses Colin and Christie from the fifth season, who won six.
When all the eliminated teams are standing at the finish line, Toni and Dallas are missing from from the group. Dallas having lost the passports in the previous leg, the two remained in Russia until they received their passports, which were eventually returned to them. It had been known through media reports since before the premiere of this season of The Amazing Race that one team would make a mistake that prevented them from joining the other eliminated teams at the finish line.
I am so glad Nick & Starr won the race and not Ken & Tina. Pretty close finish I must say.
Who do you think should have won The Amazing Race?
Who had you predicted at the start to win The Amazing Race?
Do you think Andrew & Dan deserved to finish as team number 3?
What do you think of the season overall?
Thanks for a great time people. I really enjoyed writing for this blog. I really enjoyed this season of The Amazing Race.
